Day 1 (09-Jun-2011, Thu) - Christchurch, NZ:
Backpacker Stayed - Amross Court Motor Lodge Motel (NZD 25/pax per night)
Afternoon -
- Reached Christchurch airport at 1:55 pm (4 hours difference with Malaysia).
- Westfield Riccarton shopping mall and Pak n Save supermarket
Night -
- Dinner at Hell Pizza restaurant - Special 'hell' theme interior design pizza restaurant, you can customize your own pizza toppings too.
Day 2 (10-Jun-2011, Fri) - Christchurch -> Lake Tekapo, NZ:
Backpacker Stayed - Tailor Made Backpacker (NZD 29/pax per night)
- High Country Salmon Farm - Enjoy eating fresh sashimi salmon slices there and buy a piece of salmon fish to cook for dinner at backpacker.

Day 3 (11-Jun-2011, Sat) - Mount John -> Oamaru, NZ:
Backpacker Stayed - Olive Groove Backpacker (NZD 25/pax per night)
Morning -
- Mount John - Nice view of Lake Tekapo on top of the mountain
Afternoon -
- Mount John - Enjoy dessert at Astro Cafe on top of Mount John.
- Whitestone Cheese Factory, Oamaru - Closed on weekend, therefore unable to see the workers working in the factory. Outside the factory, there is a cheese café shop can buy cheese.
- New World supermarket, Oamaru
- Turret Chinese Takeaway restaurant, Oamaru - Bought takeaway dinner there and chosen Fish and Chips and Pork Tomato fried rice. The pork in New Zealand has some strong smell.
- Bushey Beach, Oamaru (free entrance) - To view Yellow Eye Penguin. Need to arrive there around 5:00 pm. We reached there too late, missed to view it. :(
- Blue Penguin Colony, Oamaru - Entrance fees required, however we reach there too late, missed to view it. :(
Day 4 (12-Jun-2011, Sun) - Dunedin -> Otago Peninsula, NZ:
Backpacker Stayed - On Top Backpacker (Have a snooker centre at the entrance) (NZD 25/pax per night)
Morning -
- Dunedin Cadbury Chocolate Factory - Entrance fees (NZD 7.50), cheaper during weekend, due to no workers working in the factory.
- Great Taste restaurant - Ate buffet lunch (NZD 12 per person)
- Larnach Castle, Otago Peninsula - Entrance fees (NZD 12.50) for garden view. Some ghost stories inside the Larnach Castle and ballroom area.
Evening -
- Baldwin street - Drove to experience the world’s steepest road.

Day 5 (13-Jun-2011, Mon) - Fiordland Milford Sound -> Te Anau, NZ:
Backpacker Stayed - Te Anau Lakefront Backpacker (NZD 28/pax per night)
Morning -
- Started journey at 5 am from Dunedin, due to need 6 hours drive to reach Milford Sound.
Afternoon -
- Fiordland Milford Sound - Took Southern Discoveries river scenic cruise (NZD 79.00), took the trip at 12:45 pm, 2 hours cruise, trip will be cancelled due to bad weather, need to check weather forecast before going there.
Night -
- Take rest at Te Anau Lakefront Backpacker, around 1 hour drive from Milford Sound.
Day 6 (14-Jun-2011, Tue) - Te Anau -> Queenstown, NZ:
Morning -
- Te Anau - Drove from Te Anau to Queenstown.
Afternoon -
- Fergburger Restaurant, Queenstown - Ate burger (Sweet Julie, NZD 12.90) for lunch there, delicious and big burger, a lot customers all the time.
- Queenstown street - Walking around Queenstown’s street, a lot souvenir shops there. More choices of souvenirs and cheaper compare to the other areas.
- Lake Wakatipu - Near to the Queenstown’s street.
- Queenstown streets - Shopping around Queenstown’s street and went to supermarket.
Day 7 (15-Jun-2011, Wed) - Queenstown, NZ:
Backpacker Stayed - The Black Sheep Backpacker (NZD 25/pax per night)
Morning -
- Skyline Gondola, Queenstown - Experienced the cable car at Skyline Gondola. Took many nice photos on top of the hill of Queenstown view.
Afternoon-
- Queenstown souvenirs shops - Found a souvenir shop called DF souvenir shop, most of the things there are cheap compare to other shops in Queenstown. We spent a lot $$ in that shop.
- Cookie Time shop - It is very famous cookie shop in New Zealand, can try the hot cookies there.
- Fatbadger Pizza restaurant - Ate dinner at Fat Badgers Pizza Restaurant, the pizza is super large and delicious, NZD 34 for the largest size.
Day 8 (16-Jun-2011, Thu) - Queenstown -> Arrowtown, NZ:
Morning -
- Drove around 1 hour from Queenstown to Arrowtown.
Afternoon -
- Arrowtown streets - Viewed the historical area of Arrowtown, it is famous for the Gold Mining.
- Queenstown streets - Shopping time again! :P
Day 9 (17-Jun-2011, Fri) - Queenstown -> Wanaka -> Franz Josef, NZ:
Backpacker Stayed - Chateau Franz Backpacker (NZD 21/pax per night)
Morning -
- Queenstown souvenirs shops - Last chance to shop for souvenir at Queenstown!
Afternoon -
- Wanaka Puzzling World - Entrance fees for indoor only (NZD 12). Can see many special effect stuff inside. :) Must visit the toilet there! You will feel puzzle! :P
- Franz Josef - Took rest at Chateau Franz Backpacker and prepared for tomorrow’s 4 hours glacier walk.
Morning -
- Franz Josef Glacier - Bought ticket for Franz Josef Glacier Walks Half Day guided tour (Around 4 hours) (NZD 123), the ticket included entrance for Hot Pool. Started journey around 10:30 am. Need to wear water proof clothing, no jeans!
- Franz Josef Glacier - Walk for 2 hours up to the Franz Josef Glacier. Brought some food to have picnic at the Glacier. After few minutes rest, walk down from glacier for another 2 hours.
- Glacier Hot Pools, Franz Josef - To relax after long hours glacier walking tour during the day time.
Day 11 (19-Jun-2011, Sun) - Franz Josef -> Hokitika -> Christchurch, NZ:
Morning -
- Franz Josef souvenir shops
- Back to Christchurch from Franz Josef. Took around 5 hours driving time.
Afternoon -
- New World supermarket, Hokitika
- Hokitika is famous for Jade Factory, however no time to walk around that city.
Night -
- Pak n Save supermarket, Westfield Riccarton - Went to Pak n Save supermarket to get the local NZ snacks and Manuka honey before going back to Malaysia.
Day 12 (20-Jun-2011, Mon) - Christchurch:
Backpacker Stayed - Amross Court Motor Lodge Motel (NZD 25/pax per night)
Morning -
- Tax Centre, Christchurch - Accompanied my friends to make tax refund after they ended their working holiday jobs.
- Theo's Fresh Fish & Fish and Chips shop - Bought the takeaway lunch and felt too hungry so I ate the hot fish and chips in the car! This shop sells fresh fish and also is a fish and chips restaurant at the same time.
Evening -
- Pak n Save supermarket, Westfield Riccarton - Last shopping chance at Pak n Save supermarket!
Day 13 (21-Jun-2011, Tue), Christchurch, NZ -> Kuala Lumpur, MY:
Last day in New Zealand, back to home sweet home!
Morning -
- Returned the car that we rented to the car rental centre.
- Christchurch airport - The flight is departing at 3:10 PM.
- LCCT airport, Kuala Lumpur - Reached KL at 12:00 am after 10 hour and 15 mins flight. Flight delayed due to volcano dust in Australia, need to bypass the area.
- Home sweet home :)
