Discover City Life in Hong Kong Trip - Central-Mid Levels Escalator, Star Ferry Harbour Tour and Hong Kong Space Museum (Day 5, 08 Sep - 14 Sep 2012)

After we happily done photo shooting in Snoopy's World in New Town Plaza, we headed to 中环 Central by taking MTR subway. I observed those working professionals especially guys in the MTR, they really decently dressed up. Wondering how they can stand with the hot weather with their thick coat on the street! Haha...

Once we reached 中环 Central, many Ding Ding tram car were appeared on our sight. As I know, 中环 Central area has a lot skyscrapers office buildings, I believe that most of the top notch people should be working here. Maybe someday I should find a job here as well :P

First stop to visit in 中环 Central area - 中环至半山自动扶梯 Central-Mid Levels Escalator. The total journey of travelling with this escalator takes about 20 minutes. It is also recorded in Guinness World's Record as the world's longest outdoor covered escalator system. The escalator daily runs downhill from 6:00 am to 10:00 am and uphill from 10:30 am to midnight. By the time we reached there, it was in the afternoon, we took the escalator uphill, but we only travelled with half of the escalator, as my other family members worried that they need to walk down with a lot staircases which would add more burden to their already exhausted legs...

If you scan your 八达通卡 Octopus card here, you can save HKD 2 for taking MTR at 中环 Central station, 上环 Sheung Wan station and 香港 Hong Kong station. Unfortunately, we didn't go to those MTR stations as we left 中环 Central area :( We ended our journey here and walked downhill.

In order to rest our tired legs, we decided to have tea time session at 翠华餐厅 Tsui Wah Restaurant. This restaurant is famous as many local celebrities visited before. However, we didn't tried out the food there, we just ordered some beverages.

After we had enough rest during our tea time, we proceeded to the next stop - 天星小轮 Star Ferry. On the way to Star Ferry, I tried to ask direction in Cantonese from an auntie who was selling newspaper at the roadside stall. However, she just pretended that she didn't hear me and treated me as I was invisible, then continued her work :( Never mind, as we moved on, I found a young and helpful policeman to seek for guidance of the way to Star Ferry port. Thanks to his helpful guidance, we finally able to catch up with the ferry's schedule and departed from Central 中环 to 尖沙咀 Tsim Sha Tsui on time :)

We bought the Single-ride Day Round Trip tickets for 维港游 Star Ferry Harbour Tour. The ticket cost HKD 60 /pax. The total time of this tour is about 1 hour. The ferry we took was departed at 5:15 pm. The tour package is included with some refreshments - one piece of 奇华饼家 Kei Wah butter cake and a soft drink. You can click here for more details on the ferry route.

I enjoyed a lot with the ferry ride as not really many visitors on the ferry. Moreover, we can rest and relax while having a great sightseeing experience on the ferry :) I noticed there are a few Singaporean tourists together with us on the ferry too :)

On the way to 天星小轮 Star Ferry, we need to go to the Star Ferry Central Pier and purchase the ferry tickets

After 1 hour Star Ferry ride, we had reached Tsim Sha Tsui, the destination we were going was 香港太空馆 Hong Kong Space Museum. Based on my research, for every Wednesday, most of the museums in Hong Kong are free for entrance. Therefore, I chose to visit the Space Museum on this day :P

I enjoyed a lot in this museum, as I can gain some knowledge on the space history. Also I was having fun while viewing the videos about the alien research. If you are interested on space knowledge, you should not miss out to visit here :)

This was the ending of the day, but we really visited to many places in a day until our legs were very very sore. Therefore, it was time for us to go back to hostel and to have some rest. Since we were still felt full after eating the refreshments on the ferry, so we decided to eat some desserts that nearby our hostel.

My target dessert shop was the 大良八记. However, due to my outdated address information on the travel book, we couldn't find it. So, we gave up and just randomly picked a dessert shop to eat. But, I remembered that I saw the signboard somewhere nearby the hostel. Who knows that once we finished eating our dessert, while on the way back to hostel, I finally saw 大良八记 shop!! I felt that I would regret if I don't taste on the desserts at 大良八记 shop, so I bought another 2 bowls of desserts and took away back to hostel... Hehe... The desserts was really delicious and didn't disappoint me :) I miss them now...
